Hey guys! So we did another DIY baby build! We wanted to build a bassinet for our baby to sleep in while teeny tiny, but we didn’t know what we wanted to make it out of or what we wanted it to look like. So we rummaged through our scrappy garage and remembered we snagged an old vintage suitcase from Lee’s parents collapsed pole barn. Lightbulb went off and we were like “let’s make it out of this suitcase!!!!” YES! So, check it out!
Materials:
- Old Suitcase
- Scrap Wood for stand and shelving
- Screws
- Drill
- Pad or cushion (we used those twin bed foam pad found at Walmart)
- Fabric
- String/Yarn/Twine
Step 1: Get old crusty suitcase!

Step 2: Clean, rip out inside, and rip off lid!

Step 3: Make stand and attach suitcase to it. (We decided to add a little shelf for extra storage and it looks pretty dang cool too! 🙂

Step 4: Add foam or cushion and attach fabric.
Step 5: Touch up and admire 🙂
There you have it!! Old suitcase that would have gone to the dump is now our cute, unique, cozy bassinet. And we had soooo much fun making it. Check out our video for the full process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDXxwWjcNOs&t=38s
